Slovenia Embraces a Vision for the Future of European Agriculture

Brussels – At the recent EU Agriculture Ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Slovenian State Secretary for Agriculture Eva Knez expressed her support for the European Commission’s newly presented vision for agriculture and food. The professional sector is currently reviewing the details of the proposal.

The European Commission outlined key components of its vision, which aims to enhance the competitiveness of the EU agricultural sector while making it more appealing to younger generations. Announcements made in Brussels included plans to simplify existing EU regulations and streamline agricultural policy in the forthcoming multiannual budget.

In her initial remarks, State Secretary Knez acknowledged Slovenia’s approval of the vision, which positions agriculture and the food sector as essential pillars of the EU, emphasizing the vital role farmers play in society.

Knez noted, “A stable and predictable framework is essential for fostering holistic and sustainable development, while also allowing for flexibility to cater to national specifics. Solutions must effectively tackle economic, environmental, and social challenges alike.”

She stressed the importance of ensuring fair compensation for farmers, maintaining sufficient funding, and providing clarity on how changes will affect the common agricultural policy. Additionally, she highlighted the need for adequate budgetary provisions for this policy, which is currently under discussion for the upcoming multiannual financial framework. (February 25)

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—more lofty visions for agriculture while farmers are still trying to figure out how to afford their next tractor! 🙄 At this rate, they’ll need a crystal ball to predict how many hectares they’ll be able to plant next season! 🌱🍷

Oh, fantastic! Just what we need—a grand vision for agriculture that’ll probably be as effective as a chocolate teapot. 🍫☕ But hey, at least the farmers will finally know which way the wind blows—once the regulations stop blowing them in circles! 😂

Seems like Slovenia is really putting the “fun” back in fundamental agricultural reforms, eh? 🍅 With all this talk of flexibility and fair compensation, I half-expect them to introduce yoga classes for farmers next! 😂

  4. Oh, splendid! Just what we need, a shiny new vision for agriculture from the EU—because, you know, farmers have absolutely nothing better to do than decipher another layer of bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo. 🍷🚜 Let’s hope this ‘flexibility’ includes a way to grow money, too! 😏
