Portorož – At the annual managers’ congress that began on Thursday, President of the Manager Association Iztok Seljak highlighted the entrapment of companies in a “comfort zone” and the urgent need for technological innovations, along with the formulation of long-term sustainable competitiveness strategies. Approximately 450 business leaders attended, including European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who stressed the critical importance of boosting productivity.
Kos noted that while European productivity has been stagnant over the past two decades, other regions have advanced. “We possess all the tools to reverse this trend: knowledge, capital, a market of 450 million consumers, and social security. We simply need to demonstrate greater courage and resolve,” she stated.
The managers’ congress, organized by the Manager Association in Portorož, focuses on key challenges that are shaping Slovenia’s economic and social landscape. Discussions also brought attention to demographic changes in the labor market, with Slovenia being notably vulnerable.
On Friday, Commissioner Kos will visit Carinthia, one of the regions most severely impacted by the catastrophic floods in August 2023. She plans to meet with local authorities and examine the flood protection infrastructure and projects funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility. (October 2 and 3)
